Why do bad things happen to good people?

I've heard this so very often,

"My, and -----------is such a good person?  Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people?"

I get it.  We're concerned.  We see ourselves, others in light of yet others....

and we compare.

What we don't often say is, "In comparison to ---------- I'm really good!  So, I should get a break on the bad stuff going around!"

That's too blunt, isn't it!  .....It also may not be as accurate as we think.

Seeing life from the Author of Life may give us a better perspective.

You see, we're told flat out that "No one is good...no, not even one!"

Hummm..........

Then we're instructed that God desires to turn ALL for the "good! for those who love HIM!"

Wow!  THAT'S quite a perspective, isn't it?!

So, perhaps the Truth is more  "Why do good things happen to bad people?!"

Share YOUR musings on this.....

Thankful for His grace alone,

Ele

Had I been asked this question: Why does God allow bad things to happen to good people? a few years ago my answer would have been vastly different.

However, Mike and I have experienced many trials in the last few years and thankfully, we see God in everything and every purpose. We see our trials as opportunities to grow in faith and dependence upon God. One of my favorite passages from Romans 5 states: And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. 6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly

We’ve also learned it’s not always about us. We’ve grown in our compassion and empathy and love towards others. 2 Cor 1 states Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. God shows us compassion so we likewise can show compassion to other.

May God receive the GLORY!

Great words from personal experience as well as from the Living Word, Darla! Thanks for pointing to Truth in your reality. So often we choose to only see life from our limited perspective when God sees all from His UNLIMITED view! How wise to partner w/ WHO HE IS BEING in us! THANKS for the share!
