Everyone's Nightmare

Eleven years old. Walking to the school bus in front of her home. Abducted.  Gone. Never heard of for 18 years.  Kidnapped. Repeatedly raped. Suddenly, Jaycee Lee Dugard resurfaces one morning.  Now a mothers of two daughters. What is going on?  How does this happen?

What does this have to do with spiritual mentoring?  Everything. The core of humanity is rotten, evil. Without authentic spiritual life we are virtually left to our own devices.  Not a good option.  However, WITH authentic spiritual life there is freedom from such vileness.  There is hope.  There is strength.  There is purity, kindness, honor.

What are YOUR musings about Jaycee Lee's experience?  How can we, as individuals within a society prevent these nightmares from ever taking place?  What has this got to do w/ authentic spiritual mentoring?

In all honesty, I do not think we as individuals within a society prevent horrible things such as this from happening. Unfortunetly, bad things will always happen to good people. and the end times are coming closer and things are just going to get worse. okay, enough with the depressing part! what would HELP would be having a small group and working in discipleships so that we are all accoutable for each other. we as christians must get together and rely on each other and the Lord for everything. in the end, this is all we have in the world!

Sounds a bit like a FAMILY??? a BODY???!!! GREAT insights, Melissa! Yes! Being accountable, knowing another cares enough to stop me or at least question me, is woven into FAMILY, into BODY, isn't it? When we become "segmented", "detatched", "each doing what is right in their own eyes" we all suffer....some more than others...
May we, the LIVING BODY OF CHRIST, unite!!! (Wasn't that in Jesus' last prayer for us? "LORD, make them ONE?!!) Perhaps HE knew something we need to grasp.......!

I am currently working on a ministry entitled, My Sister's Keeper. I agree we are seeing more of the end times in society come to life before our very eyes. We should be able to send our children out to school in the mornings without worry. God has told us in His word that the end times are going to be bad. I think now people are begining to believe God and take Him at His word. Being a "Keeper" can come in many different ways,a Mother,a Father,a Provider, even a Pastor. But what I see and hear with a spiritual eye and ear is, to keep someone means to look out for their best interest. So what is important to me is being as sure as one ( a Christian) possible can, that another's soul is kept. When we die we are not going to rise in the same body but we will rise with the same soul. Since it is not realistic to walk hand in hand with someone physical each day to protect them it is possible to introduce them to Jesus Christ at anytime in their life. That's how I can help keep my sister...by leading her to the One who said, there was no need to fear the one who can destroy your body but to fear the One who can destroy both your body and soul. Lead your family to Jesus. No matter what happens in this world they/we will awake one day in the arms of Jesus, saved, with no more cares of this world. YES, JESUS IS COMING BACK AGAIN!
